Lou City 2 - Loudoun 1 As It Happened

It’s been a minute…
Three things have to be true for me to write a Lou City Blog post covering a match. First, I have to be there. Second, Lou City has to win or draw. Third, I have to feel like it. All three of these things lined up on Saturday evening so here we go.

29-Schewe, 2-McFadden, 5-Dayes, 7-Serrano, 9-Donovan, 13-Dia, 15-Perez, 19-Niang, 21-Huerman, 31-Lambert, 32-Adams (C)
It’s another odd Lou City line up precipitated by Baba recovering from injury and Lou City once again having a longer-than-comfortable injury list.
5th Minute
Goal. Adams is on the wrong side of Eddy Davis III (who is one I short of being a cool Davis) and it is an all too easy header for the opening goal.
Lou City 0 - Loudoun 1
11th Minute
City has struggled to have any meaningful possession in Loudoun's half. It is definitely a flat start from the new look line up.
14th Minute
Perez swings in a cross/shot the goalkeeper easily handles.
17th Minute
Young for Loudoun picks up a yellow for a bad foul on Serrano.
18th Minute
A shot from the top of the box from Loudoun goes just wide.
19th Minute
The header from the resulting corner is close too.
20th Minute
Another shot from Loudoun is tipped wide by Schewe.
22nd Minute
City is getting outplayed all over the pitch.
23rd Minute
It’s a hydration break and thank goodness for it. Lou City needs something to kick start them in this match.

Tame header from Manny.
28th Minute
Q has a shot blocked out for a corner.
31st Minute
Serrano has a couple of shots blocked.
33rd Minute
Schewe makes a comfortable save.
34th Minute
Dia hustles to try to get on the end of Serrano's cross but doesn't get anything on it.
37th Minute
Donovan’s shot from distance doesn't have enough curl on it to be dangerous.
38th Minute
GOAL! Serrano finds the back of the net with help in the build up from Niang and Huerman.

Stoppage Time
GOAL! Donovan finishes off a shot after Huerman's attempt rebounds off of a defender.

Schewe makes a decent save to keep Lou City level.

A good last ten minutes rescues what had been a pretty pedestrian half that was not helped by a slow start.

There was a decision by Schewe to come defend one-on-one. It ended up working out.
48th Minute
Loudoun hilariously fires a free kick 20 feet over the crossbar.
51st Minute
Lambert fires a cross in but it doesn't find anybody.
54th Minute
Huerman makes a great run on a pass from Aiden but his shot hits the bar. Then, Schewe has to be on his bike to stop a counter.
57th Minute
Davila the Meaner on for Niang and Morris on for Dia.
59th Minute
Serrano displays great control on a long pass, but can't beat the double team.
62nd Minute
Serrano can't get high enough to steer a header on target.
64th Minute
Perez's up close effort is saved.
65th Minute
Huerman gets a dodgy card for a late challenge.
68th Minute
Dayes slides in to clear one from danger inside the box.

Akale in for Huerman.
73rd Minute
Great save from Schewe.
75th Minute
For contrast, Schewe dawdles on the ball and is fortunate not to get caught for more than a goal kick.

A promising attack breaks down when Akale can't quite handle a pass from Lambert.
86th Minute
Tola on for Donovan and Gleadle on for Perez.
90th Minute
Tola wins a free kick at midfield.
Stoppage Time
Yellow Card on Davila the Meaner.
Schewe saves a tame header.

Lou City 2 - Loudoun 1
City will be happy for 3 points.
After the match, Huerman refers to the remaining matches as “missions” which I quite like. Serrano, Q and Simon all lament the slow start. It’s off to Hartford and then Hartford again. Too bad Hartford Athletic isn’t coached by Connecticut legends Darryl and his other brother Darryl to enhance the double-themed nature of these fixtures.
