Racing Lou v Lexington
For Coach Bev. The team celebrates after Kayla Fischer’s goal in the first half.
A friendly match that ended 1-1 followed by penalty shot practice was just what fans needed during this summer break. (Spending time on the practice pitch this morning in the 150-degree heat reminded me why they take a break.) Enjoy a few favorite pictures and the gallery while I continue my celebration of this month’s contact extensions including the newest addition, Taylor Flint.
Players showed off their BY wristbands (for Coach Bev Yanez) and their smiles as they lined up pre-match.
I counted approx. 315 shots at the goal in the first 20 minutes, but interferences from the goalie, the wind, and one Lexington SC’s players’ hair thwarted all our efforts.
Allie George submits a beautiful header for consideration. The ball preferred the outside top of the net.
One of Fischer’s early runs at the goal. The Lexington player sits down, in defeat. This would’ve been a goal, but the ball disappeared into thin air.
Savannah DeMelo holds off Lexington SC using sheer will. And maybe the force, if she’s into that.
Lauren Milliet wanted to give the Keeper a fair chance to block the net. But the Keeper was so nice, Milliet decided to lob an easy ball her way.
The right corner was a great spot to practice shots, as demonstrated by Katie O’Kane, who has left her defender in the wind.
Next up, Uchenna Kanu, who sent a bullet towards the Keeper. Keeper was unfortunately all over this one as well.
This form by Sav. I think someone is trying to steal her technique…
Keep working at it, Kyle Adams. You’ll get it eventually.
Another beautiful mind-control move by Milliet. Not sure how she gets the ball to levitate like that.
Fantastic move by O’Kane to get open and get the ball down the pitch, but this Keeper had a personal vendetta against this ball.
After what seems like ten Mondays, we score! Classy move by Lexington SC to give kudos after Fischer’s goal.
We’ve all been worrying about Flint’s new contract but she’s a constant picture of chill.
Speaking of things we’ve all been waiting for…
After the match ended in a draw, teams regrouped to prepare for penalty kick practice.
