Let's talk about Austin
Hey man, you used to be cool. You were a funky and unique safe haven for liberalism in the vast desert of right-wing knucklehead-ism. Or at least that is what I dreamed you were. Never been. Now I don't have to, because evidently you are currently more known for gentrification and cookie-cutter bachelorette parties for white ladies. Congratulations. You deserve your crappy, bottom-tier MLS team. Man, I hope Lou City wins this match. Las…you're still alright, I guess.
Lou City lined up as:
1-Fauroux, 3-Morris, 4-Totsch, 5-Dayes, 6-Duncan, 7-Serrano, 8- T. Davila, 14-Showunmi, 15-Perez, 27-E. Davila, 32-Adams (C)
1st Minute
A fan in the Waterfront Supporters Zone offers Las of corn dog if he lets a goal in. Love for Las will be a theme for the fans all night.
3rd Minute
After a Las slip up, he recovers but the fan now offers him two corn dogs.
8th Minute
Lou City is maybe playing it a bit too casual in the back. Then a promising Austin attack from a well-struck cross ultimately fizzles out.
11th Minute
Austin has to make an early sub as Pereira exits for Sabovic. I always hate to see a player go down injured and looks to be a hamstring, which evidently is a chronic thing for him.
12th Minute
Manny picks up a dubious yellow. Upon review, the pull back was committed by Totsch. It won’t be the first call that Lead Official Calin Radosav misses on the evening.
13th Minute
Austin gets a good look from a corner but the shot skies over the bar.
15th Minute
Some of these Austin players act like they are made of glass.
17th Minute
Perez crosses one but it is too tall for Serrano. It’s the best chance of the match so far.
18th Minute
Tola is in, but Las makes a good save. Morris' shot afterwards goes wide. It definitely looks like Lou City will have their opportunities.
21st Minute
Las has to stop a good effort from Morris and Serrano’s follow up is blocked out for a throw.
25th Minute
Las with another good stop. This one a kick save and this time it’s Davila the Elder with the shot. Lou City are starting to pepper the Austin goal with chances.
26th Minute
GOAL! It has been coming, and Totsch's header finally beats Las.

Was the goal too early? Sometimes you awaken a beast by scoring too early. I don't think so. Had to score with so many good chances. Austin isn’t that good despite their MLS label.

Fauroux with a good instinctual save with his foot.
31 Minute
“The referee’s a wanker” chant starts in a familiar accent in the Waterfront Supporters Zone.
This referee is a wanker...Calin Radosav…just to make sure you know.

GOAL! Tola has a fantastic finish off of a cross from Perez.

The two-goal lead is no more than Lou City deserves as they have won just about every second ball. It’s the best 20 minutes or so of football from the club that I have seen all season. Will it be enough?
35th Minute
Tola is a menace to Austin's back line.
Stoppage Time
Tola steals one and almost slots it in for Serrano but it's just a bit too long.

Las gets a nice round of applause from the Estopinal End.

Davila the Younger’s shot goes wide from a break that his brother started.

An Austin player commits a very cynical foul on Perez.
52nd Minute
Wilson in for Manny. Yellow card for DTE.
54th Minute
Wilson gets it all wrong on a promising opportunity.

Fauroux with a good save. Willson drags another shot wide.

Lou City completes a frantic effort to keep one out on a touch for from Fauroux and header out to safety from Adams.
62nd Minute
Wilson’s cross flashes dangerously across the box.
63rd Minute
Akale in for DTY and Donovan in for Tola. Tola is my player of the match and has been impressive in the minutes he has gotten recently.
66th Minute
The Calin Radosav misses a blatant blow to Serrano's face. He is having a howler of an evening.
69th Minute
Donovan has one blocked over the bar on a good move from a throw-in. Then on the ensuring corner Serrano has one saved off the line.
70th Minute
Goal. Austin gets one back on a good free kick.

Serrano's attempted cross for Donovan is blocked out for a corner kick.
79th Minute
Fauroux makes a save and Adams clears it off the line.
84th Minute
Duncan's effort from the top of the box is handled by Las.
85th Minute
Dia in for Morris and Niang in for Duncan.
89th Minute
Lou City executes a couple of good time-wasting corners.
Stoppage Time
Lou City needs to see out 5 minutes of stoppage.

Lou City’s reward is a visit to either El Paso or Houston. Hooray???
It was an excellent response from Lou City after a few disappointing performances. Bird agrees with my assessment of that 20-minute stretch of first half football being the best of the season so far. Davila the Elder put in another fine 90 minutes and will be glad to get some rest after his high-intensity performance. Totsch is proud of the effort and happy his goal helped Lou City get over the line. Las is disappointed. Maybe he will console himself with a couple of corndogs.
