Fight Club: Lou City 4-Courage 1 — Fleur-de-lis FC
I have previously spoken for my disdain for North Carolina. Read it here.
Lou City lined up as:1-Las, 2-McFadden, 4-Totsch, 7-Serrano, 9-Goodrum, 13-Dia, 17-T Davila, 24-Jones, 25-Wilson, 31-Lambert, 32-Adams (Captain)
1st Minute
There are a few of milestones that could be reached tonight (and are).
Sam Gleadle reached 10,000 minutes in his USL Championship regular season career
Phil Goodrum also reached this milestone
Amadou Dia reached 15,000 minutes in his USL Championship regular season career
Congrats to all three!
2nd Minute
A cross by Serrano almost makes its way through.
5th Minute
GOAL! Another cross by Serrano finds McFadden who heads it to Lambert to finish off the goal. Lou City Lead 1-0 and are off to a flying start.
8th Minute
The ball takes a deflection on the way through to Las who makes an easy save.
10th Minute
Las has to come off his line to clear a dangerous ball.
15th Minute
Wilson makes a good run and beats the keeper but doesn't find anybody on the cross.
18th Minute
Goal. Lou City gets caught on the counter and Las makes an attempt to stop NC’s Number 9 Anderson, but his shot hits Jones back heel and he eventually sees it over the line. All square at 1-1.
20th Minute
Goodrum gets on the end of a good ball but can't finish.
23rd Minute
Wilson is a bit unlucky as Mulqueen saves the ball onto the post and then covers the rebound.
28th Minute
Goodrum with another good effort that gets saved.
29th Minute
Goodrum’s header from a corner goes wide.
30th Minute
Mini melee. Much ado about nothing.
32nd Minute
McFadden shoves a guy hard out of bounds and draws a yellow. Fair.
34th Minute
Las makes a good save on the free kick.
41st Minute
Since the beginning of the match, North Carolina has been slow on every restart.
44th Minute
Save by Las on a dangerous ball.
Half Time
Lou City 1- Time Wasters United1
Pretty Even with NC winning the last 10 minutes or so.
46th Minute
Gleadle in at half for Totsch, meaning McFadden shifts into the back three (according to Cruz). Serrano draws a yellow card on 66 Sundstrom.
50th Minute
GOAL! Gleadle just barely keeps the ball in (actually I had a good view and don’t think he did) and crosses it to Goodrum for a goal. Lou City are back on top 2-1.
54th Minute
Serrano tries a bicycle kick that doesn't quite come off.
56th Minute
Las makes a great save after Jones is fouled but it isn't called.
60th minute
North Carolina keeping Lou City pinned into their half since the 2nd goal.
62nd Minute
GOAL! Wilson chips the keeper with a fine finish on a nice give and go with Gleadle. Lou City lead 3-1.
64th Minute
Lou City barely keep the ball out of the net on a long throw into the box.
66th Minute
Goodrum sends the header wide on a ball from Dia.
68th Minute
It’s chippy again as Lambert stands over the restart. Adams gets a card for a rough challenge a few seconds prior.
73rd Minute
Good run by Goodrum but he's just offside.
76th Minute
Craig exits. I guess time didn’t give him the full time in this match.
80th Minute
Lambert has a nice effort blocked and it goes out for a corner.
81st Minute
Willson exits for Davila the Younger and Goodrum exits for Old Man Lancaster.
85th Minute
Yellow card for Danny Cruz. He scares me a little, so I make it a point not to ask about it after the match.
88th Minute
GOAL! Evan finishes off a good team move: Adams to Serrano to Davila. Lou City reach the final score line of 4-1.
89th Minute
McFadden out, Dayes in. Serrano out, McCabe in.
Full time
Lou City 4 - North Carolina Cowardice 1
You waste time like cowards; you die a coward’s death.
After the match Evan Davila talked about his first goal and how important next week’s match against Charleston is as it could be a “title decider”. Dia talked about his goal and celebration and called the Charleston match, “just another match”. I guess we will know who is closer to the truth after the match and after the season. Coach Cruz is pleased with the second half effort after being displeased with the majority of the first half after Lou City took a lead. Everyone is excited for Fill the Fam and the Battery next Saturday.
