Clean Sheet Night at Lynn Family (Lou City v New Mex) — Fleur-de-lis FC
Let’s talk about New Mexico
Most people only know New Mexico through the two highly acclaimed TV shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. That is about all that I know as well other than they like their hot air ballons. It is funny to me that the two aforementioned TV shows simultaneously paint a bleak picture of the landscape and probably serve as the best tourism video for the state. New Mexico United the team led the Western Conference as recently as July 7th but haven’t won in five matches.
Lou City lined up as:
12-Faundez, 2-McFadden, 3-Morris, 5-Ordóñez, 7-Serrano, 9-Goodrum, 17-T Davila, 24-Jones, 25-Wilson, 31-Lambert, 32-Adams (C)
2nd Minute
Jones is already pushing high up the pitch.
3rd Minute
Faundez’s first touch is a good outlet pass to Morris.
4th Minute
Goodrum’s hustle almost pays off as he tracks down the ball and sends a cross into the box but doesn't find a teammate.
7th Minute
A New Mexico counter is promising, but the shot goes wide.
9th Minute
Morris' speculative shot goes wide.
13th Minute
New Mexico's plan is becoming apparent as it looks like they're going to try to dribble through the midfield for possession and time waste without it.
15th Minute
New Mexico is having a nice bit of possession ending with a couple of corners. Make that 3.
16th Minute
New Mexico is preferring short corners. Lou City finally gets some relief.
17th Minute
The boo birds come out as Goodrum is muscled off the ball. No foul is called and then play is stopped when a New Mexico player goes down. No foul there either. The New Mexico player spends a full minute on the floor. The crowd is...displeased. This will be a recurring theme.
20 Minute
Morris whips in a good cross that finds Goodrum's head, but the ball is saved easily.
22nd Minute
A short corner ultimately finds Ordóñez who heads it wide.
27th Minute
A New Mexico player goes down on the softest touch you will ever see from Goodrum.
29th Minute
Morris skies is a good opportunity on a cross from E-town Messi.
30th Minute
Blatant time wasting from New Mexico.
32nd Minute
It’s a "Bone Dry!" Yellow Card for Ordóñez. It is deserved and probably a good one to stop a break.
38th Minute
Jones's second long throw within a couple minutes goes straight into the keeper’s hands.
40th Minute
Fans are upset about a foul on the New Mexico keeper. It is the right call.
44th minute
Lou City goes direct from a corner, and the ball eventually finds Morris who skies it over the goal again.
45+2
Lou City concedes a late corner and wins a foul in the box.
45 +3
Lou City wins an even later free kick. The keeper makes a great save on Davila the Elder's free kick and McFadden's follow up is blocked which means...
Halftime
Lou City 0 Better Call the Trainer 0
New Mexico will be the happier team at half.
46th Minute
Totsch in for Ordonez.
49th Minute
Totsch sends a cross long cross to no avail.
50th Minute
Another New Mexico player is on the floor after a corner.
54th Minute
Lou City is having a lot of the ball but not doing much with it. Goodrum gets thrown to the ground. No call.
57th minute
Morris hustles to win a corner. Adams looping header goes over the crossbar.
60th Minute
Lou City might need a different plan other than just whipping crosses in. At some point someone in the Waterfront Supporters Zone shouts that he prefers “Old Mexico”. I am not quite sure what that means or what the implications of that statement are, but I laugh anyway.
61st Minute
Long throw from Jones out for a corner. After some stuff Morris skies one onto Adams St.
65th Minute
Lambert finds the ball deep in the box but his shot is blocked.
73rd Minute
After an eternity E-town Messi takes the corner, and it goes straight into the keeper’s arms.
76th Minute
Totsch's touch from a free kick goes wide.
80th Minute
Corner after corner. More work is needed on the training ground on that most recent short corner.
89th Minute
The match feels like it's crawling towards a 0-0 draw.
Stoppage Time
Dia has 2 good chances saved.
Full time
Lou City 0 - New Mexico Crimes Against Football Club 0
A beautiful night ruined by mediocre soccer.
Post match Danny is “displeased” by the management of the match by the officials (I almost always agree with this take) and nonplussed by the reaction of New Mexico’s team and traveling support.

Here they are pictured either celebrating a 0-0 draw while they sit barely in playoff position OR news that the one billionth bag of meth has been produced in Albuquerque this year. I will let the reader decide which is more shameful.
Jones and Davila the Elder draw the short straw and discuss how the team needs to be more clinical in its finishing.
Agreed.
On to Indy.
