5-15-25 Practice Makes Perfect
It’s a good day when I have to fight WDRB and WLKY for a spot at Racing’s open practice for media. And it’s no wonder everyone was excited to talk to Coach Bev, Katie O’Kane, and the newly announced GM, Caitlyn Milby.
First, they’re coming off an amazing home win against Gotham FC last Friday and sitting with 12 delicious points at number nine in the league. And dare I say we’re on a streak? Google tells me that the current Snapchat streak is over 3,600, so maybe it’s a mini streak with the two wins (Gotham and Houston) but we’ll take it!
Second, they’ve established an effective process and a sustainable system that means rotating players or even losing a player to a season-ending injury allows for minimal disruption. Coach Bev confirmed this morning that Jordyn Bloomer’s performance was fantastic, and no other adjustments needed to be made to keep the team intact while Katie Lund recovers for the rest of the season.
I’ll leave the rest of the pontificating about this week’s match to Michael and pivot to sunshine and smiles captured at practice today.
