6-11-25 Lou City FC defeats RI FC 2-1
What a wonderful, humid, fantastic, buggy, amazing, humid night watching the Boys in Purple school Rhode Island FC. For the post-match interviews, I was sweating as much as the players. Ray Serrano made us all laugh by trying to fix his hair before his interview. Someone threw him some shade “well, that’s the best you can do with what you’ve got…” and it was obvious that the 6’0’ forward* had never heard that before.
*Per the official Lou City stat sheet. I know!!
Let’s relive the game in pictures, except maybe that one goal that took a crazy bounce off our goal post, into our cleats, then into the net. It doesn’t matter who’s cleats. Could’ve been mine.
Here’s a look at our starting XI. Oh wait, we’ve got the sign, no players. Please hold.
Here we go, our starting XI! But it could be any team. No way to know for sure without the sign. Guess it had some place important to be.
Right away we have a head-to-head collision, a yellow card for RI, and a chance for the players to show the field ref how much taller they are than him. Kevon Lambert comes off, and Evan Davila comes in.
Adrien Perez masterfully controls the ball and takes it down the field. He could…go…all…the…wait a minute…
Don’t worry, Adrien! You will have several other opportunities to score. Chin up!
I was going to copy & paste my comment from last match (“Taylor Davila had a fantastic match”) but he had a phenomenal match this week, even putting up with this guy stalking him.
Adrien Perez (heard Coach call him “AP” during the interviews and I like it!) sent a smooth pass to Aiden McFadden, who sent the ball soaring into the net. As evidenced by this photo of all the players looking to the right and no sign of the ball. Trust me, it’s in the net y’all!
McFadden starts his goal celebration by quickly turning into the “fun guy at the party” much to the surprise of Davila the Elder, who is obviously the cool chaperone at the party.
Aiden McFadden, man of the match, Celebration Gallery
McFadden reenters play with the celebration energy and proceeds to chest bump the ball to no one in particular.
Goodrum got a great look at the goal but Mustache ate it up like a Cicada going for my hair.
But wait, is Mustache a double agent? Look at him pointing out the bear hug from his teammate to ensure Kyle Adams doesn’t make a play on the corner kick!
The press on RI’s Keeper and friends turned into a Red Rover situation (I might not be young) with a stare down from AP and Goodrum.
Another trip down the pitch for AP with an amazing shot at goal with RI defenders literally falling at his feet.
Double handball? Or no handball? One of many missed calls to make up for the numerous non-calls that still stopped play throughout the match.
Another air-dual for the ball with Davila the Younger making a play.
Dia had a run-in with a RI player and proclaimed his innocence but we all knew what the standing RI player knew - yeah, he guilty.
It was great to see Sam Gleadle back in action! He immediately took the ball down the pitch and showcased some new moves including this breakdance number he picked up by playing the Michael Jackson Experience as part of his rehab.
Ray Serrano lands one in the goal as part of a beautiful slide into home base for a point.
Which brings us to our Ray Serrano Celebration Gallery including his trip over the boards to hang with some fans.
Exhibit A in the case for an earlier red card and ejection for Kwizera. Serious hair-pulling happening here. McFadden was livid but the refs were asleep on this one.
Exhibit B. And while I normally don’t post the names of the opposing team’s players (because it humanizes them and then I can’t make fun of them), I’m calling out Jojea Kwizera again because I want to get this trending on X. #jojeakwizeraredcard #jojeakwizerarplaysdirty #jojeakwizeraplayswithbarbies
I cannot get over the footwork by Taylor Davila on this run. The RI boys have become his groupies by this point in the game.
Here we have RI’s Keeper in the middle of his clinic on time-wasting.
Gleadle took another run at the goal, this time chased down the field by a bear disguised as a RI player.
McFadden did not slow down the entire night. Here we see him running to make the last TARC of the evening to Zanzabar.
Finally, the exit of Jojea Kwizera, following his well-earned red card. #jojeakwizerawalkofshame #jojeakwizerawearssize6cleats #jojeakwizeraeatsedamamewrong

Post-Match Interviews and Socializing Gallery, including Dia awkwardly getting player autographs that he claims were “for a fan.” JK! These guys are the BEST! They spent so much time with the fans after the match ended. So many great smiles during the interviews!
