Lynn Family Stadium was the place to be Saturday night, just ask Governor Andy Beshear.
Looking sharp! I like the bookend smiles from Adams and Dia, like they already know the outcome of the game.
Sometimes the Butchertown fumes find their way into the stadium, but I thought last night had more of a hot dog and popcorn smell. Not sure what Ray Serrano was smelling as the play kicked off.
The Boys in Purple - can I call them that if they’re clearly wearing Navy? Anyway, they played a lot of defense in the first twenty minutes. I think the only thing that kept this ball out of the net was the death stare from Damian Las.
Arguably the most dangerous player on the pitch last night, Taylor Davila served up three assists to Phil Goodrum and caused general mayhem in mid-field. Shown here is the calm before the storm.
The snap is entitled “where even is the ball?” because I don’t think anyone knows. Fair guess would be “in the net” because Goodrum is right there, and the Legion Keeper is off trying to play leapfrog with Kyle Adams.
Before the hat trick action started, the usually quiet Dia snuck in a goal to tie up the match.
Even Dia’s celebration was pretty quiet. He ran all the way down the field to see Las while the team chased him down. I’m not sure he even smiled.
Taylor Davila is ready to get back down field immediately after Dia’s goal. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.
Davila finds Goodrum, who just barely beats the smoke from Dia’s celebration down the field. Goodrum seems to give us a couple signals here. He’s both flexing (“I’m ‘bout to score”) and showing us three fingers (“I’m gonna score three times tonight”) and of course he made good on those predictions.
He makes it look so easy.

Exhibits A - C for a case of Temper Tantrum by Legion’s 43. Referee called a foul on Cry Baby. Cry Baby didn’t agree with the foul, so after the whistle, he repeated the foul. Manny Perez was in the wrong place at the wrong time and took the hit. Good thing he doesn’t have long hair.
