Simply the Best (of 2025)
Well folks, Racing just finished her longest season ever! And I say “long” in the way that I describe Chris Hemsworth’s hair when he plays Thor. Or Beyonce’s hair pretty much anytime. What I’m saying is, long can be good, especially when that means more of something, and who doesn’t always want more? Do I want the waiter to shred cheese on my pasta that has cheese sauce and melted cheese on top? Yes please! Do I need more chips since I emptied the first basketful and here comes my combo #8 with three tacos, rice, and beans? Yes please! And just to make sure people who don’t like food don’t feel left out: I have 7 pair of boots - tan, taupe, camel (yes these are different), short black, tall black, suede black, and black boots with the fur (with the fur) - do I want to go boot shopping? You know that I do.
Ok, hope everyone is now tracking to how awesome it is that Racing made the playoffs for the first time in Club history! I would argue that the outcome of the first game didn’t even really matter. Next year we can make our season even longer by winning our first playoff game in Club History! It’s been an amazing journey that I wanted to reflect on, not in a sappy way makes you tear up and long for the youth of eight months ago, but a way that makes you smile because it happened. I’m not one to hold grudges, so I still smile when I see former Racing players show up at Lynn Family stadium. See how many of those former players you can spot below.
No commentary, no reference to the player, the match, the date…this is simply a journey of IYKYK. And for each of these pictures that I chose, I definitely know. (I also know that you’ve likely seen these before, but have you seen them in black and white? Or with a filter? For better or for worse, now you can say that you have!)
We have shown the NWSL world that we are a force, if not yet one to be reckoned with, we are one that will hide your keys when you’re getting ready to leave just to make you have to stay longer and get slightly perturbed. We are a force to be perturbed about. And that’s pretty darn cool. Now, where are those extra chips I requested?
