The One where Elizabeth comments on Racing’s Home Opener
It’s okay, Ellie Jean, you can open your eyes now. Blooms has got it!
Even though it wasn’t the result we wanted, we had a good time watching Racing get two goals and Bloomer stop even more. Let’s revisit the match in photos and completely accurate and meaningful commentary.*
*Nope.
The Spirit players are ready to concede the match early as they good a closer look at Lo Milliet’s kicking prowess.
Oh how I’ve missed this - The Battle of the Ponies! I don’t even care that this picture ended up blurry.
After a couple of promising runs at the goal, Emma and Swebs chat about Kayla’s choice of nail color. Emma says she’s doing silver next time, too.
Trinity Rodman - oops I forgot I don’t use the names of the opposing team’s players because it humanizes them - This random Washington Spirit player looks clearly impressed with Taylor Flint’s header.
Lo is not impressed with this same random player’s time-wasting techniques because that nonsense is reserved for Keepers only.
Blooms inspects the ball to make sure it’s properly inflated. With the Louisville Kings American football team sharing the stadium, teams are rumored to be sharing the pitch as well as the scandals. Can’t be too careful.
Newbie Taylor White shows us how all the cool kids where the pinnies these days.
After Racing’s first goal by Kayla Fischer, a Washington Spirit player can’t help but cringe. I know it’s cringe to say cringe these days, but if I’m using cringe to mean the original meaning of cringe, then it’s less cringe, right?
That post-goal feeling got me like “was I wearing a hat? I feel like I was wearing a hat a minute ago…”
Katie making the Spirit work for it. Here they are seen not working but complaining.
Blooms holding the save the same way that I hold my wine. Confident but not cocky. Not spilling a single drop.
Look at the wreckage left by Miss Sears as her first goal of the match becomes official.
Poor Ellie. I mean she had a fantastic match but emotionally she had to be spent as the Spirit had 20 shots on goal and this one was up close and personal.
“See? Told you our pitch was the softest and greenest!”- Lo consoling a fallen Spirit player who just couldn’t keep up with Racing’s offense.
So proud of how Kayla has matured. I mean, there’s a ponytail primed for pulling and Kayla is laser focused on the ball. It’s been two matches and Kayla hasn’t even hinted at a yellow card.
Concentration reaches a level 10 as indicated by the tongue-sticking-outness demonstrated by O’Kane. No one wants this match ending in a tie, but sometimes we have to settle.
