Let’s talk about Hartford:
Unlike most cities that Lou City’s opponents call home, Hartford is one of which I have lots of experience. To be fair, I haven’t spent a ton of time in Hartford proper, but I am familiar with the surrounding bedroom communities. Connecticut is a state in which nobody can really afford to live. Most of the people I knew who worked in or near Hartford actually lived in Massachusetts. I found the area to be cold, bland, and anonymous on its worst days, but some parts could be “quaint” if you squinted hard enough and pretended you were on an episode of Newhart. The coast is likely pleasant enough, but Hartford isn’t there. It is smack dab in the middle of the most milquetoast area of the country I have ever visited. I have no reason to ever return and hope I never do. Hartford Athletic came into Louisville with probably the best run of form in the league for teams not named Lou City. Could they keep up? Spoiler: they could not.
Lou City lined up as:
1-Las, 2-McFadden, 4-Totsch, 7-Serrano, 9-Goodrum, 13-Dia, 17-T Davila,24-Jones, 25-Wilson, 31-Lambert, 32-Adams (C)
7th Minute
There have been a couple of questionable calls by the central referee already. Other than that, not much is happening.
11th Minute
Directly after a corner Hartford gets a breakaway that is ultimately slowed by Dia. Las eventually cleans up the mess and Hartford is offside regardless.
13th minute
Goodrum wins a free kick deep in attacking territory.
14th Minute
Davila's delivery just misses Adams on the far post.
25th Minute
Things are starting to heat up. Hartford doesn't like the “no call”. This ref isn't calling anything other than making annoyingly sure that the throw ins are taking place in the exact spot he desires. This continues all night.
27th Minute
Wilson delivers a free kick that is headed on by McFadden, but the keeper gets there just before Adams.
29th Minute
The corner by Wilson eventually gets picked up by the keeper.
30th Minute
Serrano tries one from the top of the box but it goes over the bar.
32nd Minute
A dangerous cross from Hartford is cleared off the line for a corner.
36th Minute
Davila goes directly for a goal and has the ball saved.
39th Minute
GOAL! A good cross comes in from McFadden and finds Goodrum. His first effort is saved but his second finds the back of the net. Lou City 1 Hartford 0
41st Minute
Serrano wins a corner after a decent Lou City break. Wilson delivers the corner and Adam almost heads it in.
44th Minute
It’s a BONE DRY Yellow card for Hartford's Anderson.
45th Minute
The Lou City players are convinced that there was a handball in the box. No call…corner.
Stoppage Time
There is a good run by McFadden and then a header by Dia, but he used a Hartford player for leverage and is called for the foul.
Half time
Lou City 1 “If Beige Was a Place” 0
Goodrum goal was a bit fortunate, but nobody minds after Lou City breaks a long (for them) goalless stretch of around 120 minutes.
46th Minute
It’s the first of four corners in two minutes. All dangerous but Hartford finally gets out of trouble.
53rd Minute
A terrific cross from McFadden finds Lambert who gets on the end of it, but it hits the crossbar and doesn't go in
55th Minute
Lots of touches in the box but a shot from Davila eventually hits McFadden and goes wide.
57th Minute
Adam tries one from the top of the box but it goes wide.
59th Minute
Wilson tries one from the corner of the 18 but it goes just wide.
67th Minute
Good hustle by substitute Manny Perez to stop a dangerous attack.
68th Minute
Great ball from Manny Perez to Goodrum but the shot goes wide.
70th Minute
Davila has a go but it is saved by the keeper.
78th Minute
Goodrum misses a header on his last touch of the match. After the match he will say that this shot is the one he wants back and feels like he should have buried it.
85th Minute
Ownby has a decent chance saved by the keeper. It was probably going high anyway.
86th Minute
Lou City keeps the pressure on but can't find the net.
87th Minute
McCabe has a good chance saved on a ball from Ownby.

Lou City 1 Claims Adjusters 0
After the match Danny Cruz is relatively pleased with the performance and thinks that Lou City was good on attack in the second half, but couldn’t put Hartford away.
Goodrum, Adams and Cruz all believe that there is much more work to be done, and the team will begin playoff preparations on Tuesday.
